OSRS League 6 – How to Kill Echo Amoxliatl (Demonic Pacts)

Read Time:4 Minute, 30 Second

If you’re new to Old School RuneScape‘s leagues or bossing in general, then you’re probably going to have a hard time learning how to beat Echo Amoxliatl. Relatively speaking, it’s a pretty easy fight as far as echo bosses go, but it takes a bit of getting used to because it doesn’t give you much time to breathe once it ramps up.

You can do it without taking damage, so let’s go over the mechanics and how you can easily beat it, even without cheesing with demonic pacts!

Prepping For Echo Amoxliatl

Technically, Echo Amoxliatl is easier to kill than the regular one by virtue of having lower magic and ranged defense (mostly cause of a recent nerf), so you can just run in immediately after getting the echo orb. You can use the exact same gear too.

With that said, I highly recommend carrying an inventory full of food with you while you’re learning. You can bring some prayer potions or Moonlight Moth mixes (especially easy for Woodsman takers!), cause you’ll need Protect from Magic on throughout most of the fight.

Below is what my typical inventory looks like. I have Evil Eye, so I can just teleport back immediately, and the Ardougne cloak is for regenerating prayer. If you don’t have Evil Eye, you can use a Pendant of Ates and teleport to Twilight Temple (you’re very likely to have one by the time you get the Echo Orb).

Echo Amoxliatl Phases

Before the fight begins, turn on Protect from Magic as soon as you enter the arena. After a couple of seconds, it’ll spawn in the middle of the room.

Phase 1 – Easy

As soon as Echo Amox spawns, pay attention to the ground. Throughout the whole fight, she’ll attack with two types of projectiles:

  • Black projectile: Aimed at the floor. Once it lands, it’ll create a tile that deals continuous damage while standing on it (similar to the pools made by the regular Amoxliatl)
  • Red projectile: Aimed at you. Praying against mage will mitigate all damage from this, so keep it up at all times.

She fires these in quick succession, but with Protect from Magic on, only the black projectiles are worth paying attention to. At the first phase, each shot is slow enough that you can weave in an attack each time you step away from it.

Focus on the shadows on the floor and simply step on an adjacent tile to avoid all damage. Echo Amox will keep following you, so she’ll sometimes “block” your way. Keep auto retaliate off and click under her to avoid the next black pool if you get cornered. She’ll adjust on her own and give you space to move.

At a certain health threshold, she’ll turn off your prayers and spawn black spikes under you with a star-shaped pattern. When this happens, immediately run outside of the pattern, as it’ll turn into a set of damaging pools after a brief moment.

After that, it’s more of the same until she spawns the spikes again and says “Let the darkness consume you!” The second phase begins immediately after.

Phase 2 – Enraged Echo Amoxliatl

After the second time she turns off your prayers, be ready to move pretty much every second. Her attacks will speed up significantly, but she’ll no longer fire red projectiles at you.

During this enrage phase, you’ll have to click fast after every attack. If you linger for even a tick too late, you’re going to eat a lot of damage and likely panic.

Play it safe first and follow a pattern that goes a little something like this: Walk -> Walk + Click Amox -> Repeat. If timed correctly, you can attack her every other step without taking damage.

Once you get used to it, you can easily and consistently get into a rhythm of attack moving. Here’s an animated example of how I do it while using the Infernal Tecpatl (the weapon she drops):

If you’re still learning or would rather play it safe, take your time and keep walking while only clicking on her if you don’t have a shadow under your feet.

Just stay calm and don’t run if you get hit. The only safe tiles are always going to be adjacent ones, and clicking too far is an easy way to get stacked for a ton of damage.

If you want to watch a full fight, here’s an example I’ve recorded where I take no damage at all:

Once you learn how to do the fight, you can farm her easily for tasks and/or the echo weapon, which has a 1/30 drop chance (with a pity system if you go past that). Aside from that, her drops are exactly the same as the regular Amoxliatl.

If you’ve got additional tips or some ways to cheese her with pacts, feel free to share them in the comments below! I’ll see if I can make a brief guide for Echo Hunllef next, since you’ve probably noticed that I’m wearing full crystal (I have the blessing too). Been very busy IRL during this league, so I’m falling behind on points and content.

In the meantime, check out my laid-back Demonic Pacts league guide if you’re still pretty new to this OSRS league!
