One of the side quests you might stumble into while running around RuneScape: Dragonwilds is Highlighting the Problem. If you’re stuck at a certain point or don’t even know how to start it, then worry not, cause this guide will show you exactly what you need to do!
Starting ‘Highlighting the Problem”
To get this quest, you first have to head to the Runecrafting Guild in Bramblemead Valley. This is the tower at the northwestern corner of the region. Make sure to follow the road leading up to it, and watch your step or else you’ll fall into the void!
Once you get there, interact with the wizard statue to start the quest. It’ll ask you for a password, but none of the answers here will be correct, so just pick whatever you want.
Your objective now will be to look for clues to figure out the password. There’s a lore book near the statue, and it suggests that the key to unraveling whatever secret the runecrafting guild is hiding can be found in a nearby Dragonkin vault.
It’s just below the cliff that you’re currently on. You can either walk around and go through a short platforming section, or you can just jump down with the help of Windstep, which should cushion your fall.
Before you enter, make sure that you’re stocked up with supplies and are ready for a bit of combat. Having Tempest Shield will make your life a whole lot easier in here.
Finding the Password
The dungeon itself is fairly linear, so all you need to do is avoid all of the traps along the way and clear out any guardians or rats that you run into. There are a few side rooms with chests and rune essence, but nothing special at all.
Seriously, giving you step-by-step directions here would be insulting. Just keep going forward until you reach this specific room:
Behind the ornate thing that’s hanging from the ceiling is a “secret“ room that you can reach by jumping with the help of Windstep. Once inside, you’ll find a glowing statue that you can interact with, and it’ll give you the password: “Pthentorok”
Once you’ve gotten the password, you’re free to leave the dungeon in any way you see fit. If you plan on going through to the end, you’ll have to fight a lot of guardians. Just come back at a later time to clear the rest if you’re low on supplies.
Unraveling the “Secret”
Now that you have the password, return to the wizard statue and then utter the word “Pthentorok” to proceed to the next part of the quest. You’ll get a crystal orb, and a disembodied voice will start giving you instructions.
You have to charge the orb by using it on the pedestals found on top of the smaller towers around this area. This is very straightforward, so just find an elevated spot (plenty around each tower) or build a small structure to launch yourself up with Windstep, because doing it from ground level won’t be enough.
There are a total of three pedestals, and this is what they look like:
Once you’re done charging the orb at all three pedestals, return to the statue and the disembodied voice will congratulate you. According to them, the orb is a component of the Staff of Light. This is a legendary item that you can craft much later in the game.
