Marvel Rivals Luna Snow Guide – Sniping Healer Tips & Tricks

Marvel Rivals Luna Snow Guide – Sniping Healer Tips & Tricks

Read Time:11 Minute, 4 Second

Ah yes, Luna Snow, the character that was first introduced in a mobile game that I know all too well. She’s since become an actual character within Marvel comics, and she’s one of the few strategists/healers currently in Marvel Rivals.

Right now, she has insane potential in the right hands, but she’s a fairly tough pick for people new to shooters. You can definitely get by with enough practice though!

In this guide, I’ll be sharing some advice based on my own experiences and testing with the character, as well as leveraging some general knowledge from years of playing other hero shooters at a decently high level!

Luna Snow’s Playstyle in a Nutshell

Luna Snow excels at healing from pretty much any range, but you need to have precise aim as her projectiles have no lock on like Cloak & Dagger‘s does. What sets her apart is that both her healing and damage are effective even at an extremely long range, with the latter having just a bit of drop-off at far distances.

She’s a great all-around healer that seemingly complements any team composition. Allies clumping up? Your healing can cover everybody with your shift ability and also the fact that your projectiles pierce full HP teammates. Allies too far apart? With good aim and reaction times, you should be able to top up anyone within your sightlines before they get picked.

Her primary fire shoots a burst of three projectiles that fly so fast, they may as well be hitscan. From what I can tell, it deals the same amount of healing from any distance, giving her the ability to be a sort of “sniping healer“, though the rest of her kit does need you to be pretty close.

On that note, let’s look a little deeper into her abilities…

Luna’s Kit & Team-Ups

Just like in my C&D guide, we’ll be doing this in list format so you can easily go through the tips for each individual skill:

  • Light & Dark Ice (primary fire) – Luna Snow’s primary attack causes her to shoot three projectiles in rapid succession. Each projectile will either heal teammates or damage enemies on impact.
    • It takes a bit of getting used to, but do not wave your crosshair around like crazy. Projectiles after the first one can miss if you flick too hard and too soon.
    • These can headshot, so you can be a surprisingly strong fighter in your own right. I don’t think she’s the strongest strategist in that regard (Mantis HURTS too), but combined with the rest of her kit, it’s close.
    • Since she fires in bursts, you can shoot ten times per reload despite having 30 ammo.
    • These are not piercing attacks!!! Your primary fire will only pierce allies who are already full HP. I’ve seen some bigger sites claiming that they “pierce everything”, and it takes less than a minute in the range to test if this is incorrect…
  • Absolute Zero (secondary fire) – She fires a block of ice that will deal a bit of damage and freeze an enemy on impact.
    • This freeze lasts for around five seconds, give or take, and the target can’t move or attack during this period.
    • Attacking a frozen enemy will thaw them out faster. Constant damage will cancel it out almost immediately.
    • The projectile goes through allies.
  • Ice Arts (Shift) – This ability temporarily changes her primary fire into a piercing hitscan attack for a few seconds.
    • This piercing attack has a fixed range and damage/healing value with no drop-off.
      • It goes through everybody, which means you can do a ton of healing and damage all at once. Amazing value when used while pushing chokepoints.
    • There’s around a one second or so animation while activating it, which prevents you from firing instantly. Avoid using it when you’re already getting jumped, as you might get killed before you can get a shot off.
      • You can cancel the initial animation with Absolute Zero, though only do this as a last resort or if the brief freeze will help secure/prevent a kill. I’ll explain why in a bit.
  • Share the Stage (E) – Luna attaches a mark on an ally, which grants them a percentage of healing that you do to anyone.
    • This also applies to the marked player themselves as well, so they’ll take even more healing when you hit them. Reactively slap it onto somebody who urgently needs healing to get them up ASAP.
    • Generally, you want this on a vanguard who will be acting as your main tank, but don’t stick it on them 24/7 and call it a day. If they aren’t taking too much damage, consider putting it on somebody else who urgently needs healing.
    • Putting it on your flanker is good too, but they still need to be careful of burst damage.
    • Remember, you need to be doing healing for it to do anything! If you’re only healing chip damage, the mark will heal a hilariously small amount.
  • Fate of Both Worlds (Ultimate) – When activated, Luna starts dancing, which creates an aura that heals nearby allies. This can be toggled by pressing Q again, which changes the aura’s effect to grant a damage boost to teammates within range instead.
    • The rapid healing this can give is great for denying heavy sustained damage from offensive ultimates, such as Punisher‘s or Star-Lord’s. Burst from stuff like Scarlet Witch or Iron Man’s ults, though, not so much.
    • The damage boost is huge, but you should ensure that your team can survive the fight without your heals as you cannot use your primary fire or other abilities while ulting.
    • You can spam the button to switch between damage boost and heal at a rapid pace, but it can be a bit finnicky and could occasionally cause it to glitch out and tick at weird intervals.
      • EDIT: You can no longer spam it this way as of the Season 1 patch!
  • Cryo Heart (passive #1) – Luna has two different passive abilities, and the first is Cryo Heart, which lets her heal around 100 or so health whenever she uses Absolute Zero or activates Ice Arts.
    • The heal does not stack, meaning that using both abilities at the same time will not result in double the healing.
      • The effect occurs over time, so activating both in a short amount of time will merely extend the timer, causing you to heal just a few more points than it normally would.
    • Practice landing your Absolute Zero, as the freeze and passive healing can save your life against diving flankers!
  • Smooth Skate (passive #2) – After about one second of running forward, Luna will start skating. This grants her bonus movement speed and an increased jump height while it is active.
    • Attacking or using an ability will cancel this effect. Getting hit with most attacks will not, so you can still use it to run away.

Her Current Team-Ups

  • Icy Disco (Namor & Jeff) – When either Namor or Jeff are in your team, they will gain the ability to temporarily infuse one of their abilities with ice.
    • For Jeff, his right clicks create patches of ice on the ground that can slow down enemies as they pass through it.
    • Namor, on the other hand, will summon a special Monstro Spawn that slows targets that it hits.
  • Frozen Chi (Iron Fist) – When Iron Fist is in the team, Luna gains the ability to detonate a ring of energy that heals allies and knocks back enemies within range.
    • This also applies a slowing effect to enemies that are hit by it.
    • It’s a nice bit of supplementary healing that might be able to save you or nearby allies in a pinch. It’s pretty weak on its own, though, and it has a long cooldown.

Keep in mind that future updates can add or remove team-ups, so always be mindful of major patches. Whenever a new seasons rolls out, they might remove or change these again, like they did with Namor’s.

Abuse Your Range!

Depending on the enemy’s team composition, keeping a distance can be great. Unless you’re getting flanked nonstop or they have a hell of a marksman on the other team, you can ensure your survival by staying a fair bit away from your allies.

One benefit to doing this is that you can get a wider healing coverage since you’ll have a better view of everyone. It’ll also let you poke flying enemies and allies that you probably wouldn’t notice unless you divert your gaze away from your team. If somebody dives you, a well-aimed Absolute Zero can help you disengage.

Obviously, you still want to be close enough that you can jump in and use Ice Arts for group heals or even activate Fate of Both Worlds if the other team uses an ultimate that you can outheal. Proper positioning should eventually become second nature to you if you just keep practicing and feeling out the range of each skill.

Don’t Be Afraid to Poke!

Building off of the previous section, your quick projectiles and effective range can make for some really good supplementary damage. As long as your team isn’t in urgent need of healing, it’s often great value to attack enemies whenever you can.

If you spot an enemy strategist that’s out of position, you can ping them for your team while also slapping them with some quick headshots. Honestly, anybody who is out in the open should be some free damage for you.

Poking can be a nice way to build up ult charge, especially during times when your team barely needs any healing done. You may as well be using your ammo on something productive rather than just throwing it at allies on the off chance that they need it.

Chokepoints & Objectives Are Your Best Friends

Whenever there’s a fight at a chokepoint, or if literally everyone’s just duking it out on an objective, make sure to use Ice Arts off cooldown. You can do a ridiculous amount of healing and damage by just shooting at the crowd.

Seriously, it’s the polar opposite of how precise your regular attacks have to be. It’s like having a shotgun with no spread that pierces everything. Ice Arts also has a deceptively long range, so you don’t even need to run right on top of a team fight to take advantage of it.

Some General Tips

Go Ahead, Use That Ultimate

In the event that somebody dives you and nobody on your team is peeling, don’t shy away from ulting. It’s often better to use it in order to stay alive and then move towards your allies to continue healing everybody rather than to die and potentially have the whole team get wiped.

Of course, you still want to bring value to the team, so don’t forget that you can swap to a damage boosting aura as well. If you used your ultimate solely to keep yourself from getting picked off, you may as well try to buff everybody and potentially wipe the other team out instead.

As usual, this is purely situational. Assuming that your aim is on point, though, Luna Snow can build up her ult meter so fast that dying with one in your pocket can feel like a huge waste.

SEASON 1.5 UPDATE: Her ultimate now builds up slightly slower than before. The tips above are still applicable, though.

Avoid Tunnel Vision

This is something that applies to any character, but it’s especially true for healers. Basically, you want to avoid having your attention fixated on just one person at a time. Too many times, strategists will often focus their healing on a single target (usually the tank) just because they’re constantly being hit, chip damage or otherwise.

My earlier tip to abuse your range will help alleviate this a bit, since you’re almost always going to see everybody’s health bars. Always keep an eye out for that red and white cross icon, and make sure to try and heal whoever has it if possible!

It’s not always the right play to do that, since there will be occasions where you’ll have to let a player die to keep somebody else alive. However, decision-making like that is just something that you’ll have to build up on your own by playing the game more.

It’s kinda hard to make up hypothetical scenarios since there are too many factors to consider in any given match. If you’re still learning, just keep it simple and try to keep everybody’s health bars as full as possible!

And that’s a wrap! In the event that new team-ups or balance changes roll out, or if there’s some new/current tech that I was unaware of, I might revisit this to revise stuff. For now, though, these tips should be enough to get you started on your Luna Snow journey!
