Marvel Heroes Omega – Beginner’s Tips (2026 Guide)

Read Time:6 Minute, 48 Second

In case you’ve been out of the loop, Marvel Heroes Omega has essentially been revived recently through community efforts, and you can now play the latest version of this fun ARPG from just before the live servers shut down. I have a guide on how you can play Marvel Heroes Omega in 2026 that’ll help with that if you stumbled into this post without knowing how.

Now, if you haven’t played the game before or have completely forgotten some of the basics (I don’t blame you, it’s been almost a decade), I’ve compiled a few helpful tips that’ll get you to the fun stuff a little faster!

Tip #1. Finish the Story!

If it’s your first time playing, or it’s the first character you’re leveling for the account, make sure to go through the main story first. It’s a relatively chill and structured method of getting yourself to level 60, and you need to do this to unlock waypoints that’ll come in handy later on.

As you max out more of your roster, this also becomes a hilariously quick way to reach level 60 on new characters due to the hero synergy XP system. Basically, the more heroes you hit max level on, the faster new characters will level up.

Once you’re used to the game’s systems, you’ll be hitting level 60 on new toons halfway through the story. No need to worry about spending too much time unlocking a new hero’s full kit!

Tip #2. Max Out the Crafter & Enchanter ASAP

You see those Enchanter and Crafter NPCs in every hub area? They’re extremely important for post-60 progression and just endgame in general. Donate gear and credit items to them to level them up as soon as possible, because it’ll take a while if you can’t get stuff like credit chests and cosmic essence to drop.

The sell price of items dictates how much EXP the NPC will get if you donate it to them, and I’ve personally fed a few credit chests to get them maxed out as soon as I started (500k EXP each chest!).

Ignore the vendors for now. You can level them up to increase the number of items that they sell, but this is completely useless for the most part. Just focus on the Crafter and Enchanter!

BONUS TIP: Hammer Bay NPCs

Once you’ve gained access to Hammer Bay after the main story, you’ll unlock the GLF Reputation system. The main way to increase this is through daily and weekly quests that you’ll find under “Influence Missions” in the mission log (the hotkey is L).

It’s important that you start building this up as ASAP too. With higher reputation ranks, you’ll eventually gain access to iLvl 80 legendary items, which are much stronger than their counterparts that you can get in Odin’s Palace. On that note…

Tip #3. Farm Odin Marks, Get a Legendary

Early on, you’ll unlock the ability to complete Legendary Quests, which are somewhat randomized missions that you can reroll with credits. You mainly only want to do these for Odin Marks, which you can then use to buy legendary items.

With certain boosts, you can also farm them quickly through patrol zones. This is especially true during Midtown Madness on Mondays.

I put this in #3 because you’ll want to focus on completing the story first before you bother farming these, but you should get at least 300 Odin Marks ASAP once you can. The reason for this is because it allows you to buy a Gungnir from Asgard, which is considered the best-in-slot (or at least generally great) for most characters in the iLvl 70 range.

You can refund it at any time from a crafter, so if you’re done leveling a character, you can always refund and put it on the next hero you’re going to max out. Alternatively, you can just keep it on a character that you like.

I have one equipped on my Rogue, and I’m keeping it there until I have enough GLF reputation to get a more specialized legendary.

Tip #4. Unlock and Level More Heroes

Assuming you’re interested in leveling plenty of characters or prestiging your favorites, I highly recommend spending your Eternity Splinters on buying Random Hero Unlock boxes from the ES vendors. These cost 175 ES each.

Every time you reach level 60 on a hero for the first time, you’ll gain an account-wide Hero Synergy Bonus XP multiplier. You can check this at the bottom of your character’s stat page, and it stacks all the way up to 200%.

Eventually, leveling up new heroes or prestiging will go by so fast to the point where you’ll be hitting 60 by just doing barely half of the story.

Random hero boxes are the most cost-efficient way to unlock new characters if you don’t have any specific characters that you wanna go for. The only risk is that it has no dupe protection, and some characters are only available in the G Store.

If you’re playing in the TAHITI server, which I’m on as well, you’ll be able to afford one of these every hour or two depending on how much ES you get from drops. For context, the minimum amount you get per drop there is 9, and this can go as high as 40+.

NOTE: Heroes can also drop very rarely from any enemy in the game. I’ve gotten Ant Man from a trash mob just yesterday. I remember getting a couple of characters this way back in the day too. It’s not a reliable way to farm them at all, but it does happen!

Tip #5. Don’t Min-Max if You Don’t Want To

Marvel Heroes Omega is an ARPG, and this usually attracts a specific crowd that likes optimizing their builds to perfection. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that! I do a bit of it myself just cause I like seeing big damage numbers.

But if you just wanna have fun and blow stuff up as your favorite Marvel hero, don’t get too bogged down by what’s “meta” in this over 10-year-old game.

For example, people often recommend getting Cyclops first solely because of his 10% bonus EXP synergy, but it’s a drop in the bucket compared to the bonuses you can stack over time, especially if you get boosts from the store. If you aren’t a fan of Cyclops, you’re probably going to be bored as hell trying to hit 60 as him first because of his playstyle too.

Wanna start off as your favorite among the heroes in the roster? Go for it! I personally recommend Deadpool as a starter for those who want a chill rotation, as he doesn’t work off a mana system. Otherwise, just pick whoever you think is the coolest as your first free hero.

You’ll also get by just fine in most content with hero-specific uniques and cosmic gear, but there’s always the option to follow builds over on MH Bugle if you’re at the point where target farming stuff is all you’re doing to progress. I’m pretty sure it’s being updated with new builds from people playing on the community-run private servers now too!

Closing Tip: Just Have Fun With it!

Marvel Heroes is a very casual-friendly ARPG that offers as lot of dopamine-inducing action and lootsplosions. You can easily sink hours of your free time just unlocking and maxing out heroes for fun, or chasing those OP drops from varying PVE activities.

Just have fun with it and grind to your heart’s content. At this point, the game isn’t going anywhere unless all the community-run servers suddenly drop out of nowhere. And even then, I believe you can host a local version for yourself.

If you’re an MH veteran with some more tips to share, feel free to leave it in the comments below. In the meantime, I’m gonna keep playing this casually on the side. Feel free to say hi if you find me in TAHITI!
