If you’re here, then welcome to the club. No, you’re not going insane, the way to change your highlighted soldier in Battlefield 6 is hilariously simple but hidden behind some questionable UI choices. My friend and I have been looking for the solution to this silly “problem” too, and I’m glad to report that we finally found it. Let’s not waste any more time, here’s how to do it.
Changing Your Highlighted Soldier
First up, open your loadouts and select whichever class you’re looking to highlight. Click on one of the loadouts listed on the bottom left, and then you’ll see the “Highlight on Profile” option pop up nearby. From there, just press whichever hotkey is assigned to it (Default: I on PC / Left Stick on controller).
Funnily enough, this probably won’t be an issue for console/controller players. You can see this option right from the start after picking a class. On PC, however, you likely won’t see it unless you try to change your loadouts, which is what’s causing all of this confusion.

That’s really all there is to it. To check, just go to your profile and you should see whichever loadout you selected now represented in that screen,. Congrats, you’re no longer stuck with the random character that the game starts you off with!

So, to sum it all up:
- Step 1. Open the loadouts menu
- Step 2. Select your desired class
- Step 3. Click on one of the loadouts at the bottom left
- Step 4. Press the “Highlight on Profile” button/hotkey
Now I don’t want to take credit for “discovering” this, because I found the solution on Reddit of all places, so thanks to that user. I’m just here spreading it for a wider audience, as I know a lot of you are struggling to find this option too. Now get out there and start showing off your cosmetics!
